Taste of Milano is a mouthwatering initiative bringing together top chefs for a delitghtful tour of Italian cuisine in San Siro from 15-18 September. The idea’s great, but for a website that places a lot of emphasis on the London original, it’s surprising that they only have the page available in Italian—missing the boat on capturing non Italians who would use this as a reason to hop over to Milan for the weekend. Still, we’re excited to see just what it’s all about!
It's been a few weeks since the first aperitivo and as we shake the sand from our shoes, and sink back into our air conditioned offices, it's time to start thinking about the next installment. We want to coordinate our thoughts with yours, so please tell us what you think! What is it that YOU would like to discuss? What critical parts of city life (services, etc) would you like to see improved and how? Any innovative, grassroots initiatives you've heard/are a part of?
As we found out in our first aperitivo, the city of Milan is poised for a great deal of change so that it can turn into the hospitible and cutting edge city it is meant to be with an emphasis on sustainability and a better quality of life. With the clock ticking away towards Expo 2015, the time to promote new ideas and talk about new projects is now. Join in on the dicussion and tell us what topics spark your interest!

Domino's settled a billboard in New York's Times Square, displaying customer feedbacks on products and delivery service quality. It's part of a complex strategy using social media to listen customers.
The billboard supported the "Oh Yes We Did" campaign at Domino's.
Chris Brandon, Domino's spokesman, said: about 80% of the feedback on the billboard has been positive, and the other 20% has been “constructive.”
Domino's experience shows that we are living in a customer-centric era.

It's August in Milan and like most other major European cities, the locals have fled for the cooler, open air in the mountains or by the sea. The overall feeling of the city is less of the vibrant and bustling Italian financial capital, and more along the lines of that ominous ghost town from a western film. Replace the old bartender at the saloon warning you to get while you still can with a bored manager at a cafe by Duomo and you've got the not so friendly welcome experienced by most tourists this month.
Last Friday, Corriere Della Sera published an article asking tourists what they thought of matters such as mobility within the city, its near inhospitiable attitude, and the overall difficulty of simply getting things done. Everything from wondering whether or not you're on the right train in the Metro, to finding a bancomat that actually works proves to be a bit of a mission for those unfamiliar with the city and the language. As one tourist quipped, the Milanese are giving the Parisians a run for their money. But it's not all bad. Despite the citizen's questionable behaviour, the beautiful architecture, breathtaking art that fills Milan's museums, aperitivi are just some of the things keeping the number of people visting increasing each year.
So as the city become increasingly international and attracting more and more tourists per year, just how can Milan captialize upon its strengths and become more accessible to those coming from abroad? The Museo del Novecento seems to have taken it upon themselves to be the city's welcoming committee with some of its staff wearing bright coloured clothing inviting curious vistors to see their new exhibit.
As we continue our conversations on both mobility and hospitality, we'd like to know: What have been your experiences (good or bad) with the level of service here in Milan? Is the experience in August really all that different for locals as opposed to tourists?
